Spring Break

I had a wonderful spring break. Inner City Youth Alive was full of kids and youth running around for the better part of the day. Thru SOAR Heartland we had a youth group from Winkler doing VBS with our kids for the entire week. We had the kids from 12:30-3:30 every day. It was neat seeing how God was working in all of our lives that week.

Gem Lake

This last weekend, I had an opportunity to lead the program for kids at ICYA's camp out on Gem Lake. The weekend was a neat time to be with some of our kids in a different setting.

For those who don't know about Gem Lake...It takes about a 3 hour drive plus a 20 minutes snowmobile ride to the camp (that is in winter). Everything is heated by wood stoves. Our oven and fridge is ran by propane; the bathrooms are outhouses; our hot comes from a pot on the stove and our cold water comes from the lake; (in the summer we do have running water, which is heat by solar panels.)

I had a great time building relationships and interacting on a level that wouldn't have been achieved here in the North End. It was neat to see God' s creation out in the wilderness. The silence out there was incredible. Since we were the only ones out in the wilderness for miles around. Standing out on the lake and seeing the billions and billions of stars was really neat to experience God in his setting. I will post you pictures as soon as I can.

Prayer...

This last week, I memorized Eph 6:10-13 for class. I have been thinking, how much are we really influenced by the spiritual world? Couple of events happened last week has made me think that we don't realize how much pray effects our daily life.

I find wednesday night to be the most choastic night. The other week someone suggested maybe something spiritual. So she got people to pray for us during the evening. That wednesday was the most at peace I have felt. The kids were very peaceful. It was one of our better evenings. Once again this last Thursday got me thinking about the spiritual realm. As the time was winding down towards opening of the doors, I had a feeling I need to pray for God name to be glorified in whatever happened that night, also the need to pray for standing firm was huge. So that is what I did. Physically the evening was like any other. I have no idea what was going on in the spiritual realm

So if you guys to remember to pray especially for Wednesday and Thursday evenings that would be great.

God isn't done yet...

As I promised you...here is a picture of my niece. This was taken at the hospital...

On a different note...the other day a got a sweet note from one of the bullies here at drop-in. Over the last several months I have had many run ins with him. The change that we have seen in this boy has been due to the fact one of the school T.A.'s have been spending alot of time with him as well as God answering prayer. God is in the midst of persuing each one of these people in the North End. Sometimes we don't see it and other times, like this one, we see the work of God.

Nothing much...

sorry that I have not written for a while. Work keeps me busy. Besides working for ICYA, I am very much involved with North End Community Church. Every other week we met as a leadership team to discuss about goals for our Church and plan various events. Right now I am also taking a course one evening a week for the next 7 weeks. I also have become an auntie once again. Karli Brielle was born on Friday, Jan 19th. Once I have pictures of her I will post them.

One things that God has lead me to is start a prayer ministry during our Thursday drop-in. I am trying to fix up a room so that I pray for the kids and volunteers through out the evening. The kids have stopped by to see what I am doing. Through this I have amazing conversations with the kids. There are some girls that stop by so that I can read the Bible to them.

I have realized how much the battle we are fighting is not one of flesh and blood but of the spiritual type. Since Sept. We have had about 10 or more broken windows that has happened to our building. (which has not happened in years)

I have seen God answer some very specific answers during the drop-in. God is good. He has the power to do anything.

Here are some pictures I took in one drop-in.

The Incredible Race "Let us run..the race" Heb 12:1

Here is a few pictures of what my last weeks in July were like. During our 2 week 5 day VBS, we have around 70 kids coming through our doors. One of my highlights of the two weeks was the singing. For the first time we have a full band leading; the kids fully enjoyed it. They enjoyed it so much that during our afternoon trips, they would be singing on top of their lungs the entire bus ride. Their singing could be hear from a block away. Some of our out-trips included going to the zoo; exploring the Children's museum; and having a BBQ at Birds Hill Park.

Pray that the kids that have been impacted by the gospel will grow close to Jesus.
